  • 3 looks from our season favorite, Slak 3 looks from our season favorite, Slak

    Posted on by Dom Girard

Each season, we love welcoming new brands to our shelves. One of them quickly became a favorite this season and it's a brand called SLAK

Slak is a brand that was founded 23 years ago in Quebec City and has since grown in popularity! All their collections, feminine and comfortable, are designed and made locally. This allows them to offer the best quality possible since each step of the manufacturing is under their control.

In addition to being designed locally, many of their creations are made from bamboo fiber, a material that deserves recognition! This fiber is not only soft and super (I mean.. super!!) comfortable, it's also wrinke-free, dries very quickly and breathes a lot, which makes it great for hot weather!

Here's 3 of our own looks inspired by their collection :)

This first outfit is sure to please! First, the GEMINI top, made from bamboo fiber, is not only comfortable, but very flattering with its round and wide neckline. The back neckline is also round, but goes down even further than the front, giving a super feminine look to this simple-looking shirt. Then we have the LEO shorts, high waisted with pockets on the sides. They are a nice length with a zip closure at the back. Complete the outfit with a flat sandal for an everyday look or with a high heel for a more chic effect!

This second outfit is for the business woman who has style! Because whoever said "office look'' had to be a simple, boring skirt! Here we added the top PYXIS-T, made from bamboo fiber. Its opening on the chest and transparent effect gives it a more chic look that is perfect for the office. We paired it with the NAT skirt by Aragon Couture, an expandable skirt that's easy to wear and match. We completed the look with the Mackage bag, RIMA and a high sandal! For colder seasons, you can easily add a black blazer (like the SOIA&KYO IMMA), tights stockings and booties!

The last outfit is simple, perfect for those lazy weekend days when you don't want to have to think about it! We went with AQUILA, a mid-length sleeveless dress with a large V-neck. You can wear it alone or with a blue or white denim jacket (like the 8058008 by Point Zero). Complete the look with a low sandal for maximum comfort and add a punch of color with the MINKA bag by Matt & Nat.

  • 1 dress, 3 looks! 1 dress, 3 looks!

    Posted on by Dom Girard

Ahh summer, the season of light dresses, sunscreen and cocktails on terraces! Whether it's for a drink with friends, an afternoon at the park or the office, you may think you need three completely different outfits! What if I told you that with the same dress, you could complete 3 different looks, adapted for each of your activities! It's just a matter of accessories!

The dress used to create these 3 looks is the 112-2393-dd dress by DEX. It's a beautiful light dress with vertical stripes. The drawstring at the waist make it great for all shapes and sizes. Pink is neutral so it's suitable for all skin tones and is easy to match!

The first outfit that we have for you is for work. Whether you work with the public or in an office, this outfit is super trendy, practical and comfortable. The EUDORA blazer from SOIA & KYO offers a classic fit with a slightly longer panel at the back and a metal closure at the front. We added the BEE by Matt & Nat to complete this look for it's practical aspect. Just throw it in your big purse or backpack and get it out at lunch time to go out with your colleagues! It has card slots like a wallet but also a strap to wear it as a purse :)

The second look is for those summer afternoons spent at the park with the family or even a picnic with friends. The blazer is replaced by a stretchy denim jacket by Point Zero. When the sun gets down and the weather drops, it's always convenient to have a light jacket to throw on your shoulders! For the bag, we chose the Mumbai  backpack by Matt & Nat so you can carry all your essentials! From a wallet to sunscreen, you'll even have room for a snack! We completed the look with the Toula hat from SOIA & KYO, to protect you from the sun!

The last look is for an evening out with friends, whether in a restaurant or on a terrace. This time we cover ourselves with the cute Mona leather jacket from Mauritius. We chose it for its light color that keeps you in the summer spirit and as it fits perfectly with the dress. It adds a chic-rock look to your outfit, we love it! Go for a clutch like the Abiko by Matt & Nat to complete the look, and voilà!

These 3 outfits were featured in our Facebook live video Sunday June 10th. Did you miss it? Watch it here (french only):

  • My top 5 : Matt&Nat S/S 2018 My top 5 : Matt&Nat S/S 2018

    My top 5 : Matt&Nat S/S 2018

For most people (myself included), buying a new handbag is not something I take lightly. I like a handbag that will last me a long time and that is adaptable to my needs, I want to make a choice that I won't regret. Matt & Nat bags are really interesting because of their bold look and versatility, and also because they are 100% vegan and the inner liners are made from recycled materials. I had quite a time deciding (because I love them all !!!), but here are my 5 favorite bags from the new collection.

The first bag I want to talk to you about is BEE. What I think is so fantastic about it is that it's so complete. Not only can you slip your phone (even if there is no designated pocket for this), your keys and even a small beauty kit, it's also a wallet. Oh yeah! A two-in-one! BEE offers you 12 slots for your cards, a coin zipped pocket and 4 bill compartments. You can even remove the strap completely to make it into an evening clutch. Did someone say versatility?!

My second favorite has actually been a favorite for years! The BRAVE backpack is a classic favorite that keeps coming back. And that makes me very happy! I love its shape and the fact it keeps its shape, even when empty. The opening on the top is super convenient; it gives easy access to the contents of your bag. In addition to the zipped pocket on the front, you have a compartment for your phone inside and it can hold a 13 "computer (even if there is no slot for it). Not that I needed more convincing, but have you seen the new season colors?

You need a lot of space, but don't want a backpack? KARI is a great alternative! It holds a 13 "laptop, has a compartment for your cell phone in addition to a zipped pocket. You can wear it on the shoulder (always practical) or you can wear it on the wrist for a more chic look. Its shape and silver details add a little extra to this super classic and timeless bag.

This handbag is probably the least "versatile" of my top 5, but I had to mention it because it is simply too cute! The LUNA-mini (also available in Large), has a zipped pocket and a compartment for your cell phone and has enough room for a small wallet (like the Motiv-sm for example or a card holder), a glasses case and / or a small beauty kit. It's really perfect for those hot summer days where you want to be light and just take the essentials. Its shape is so pretty and original that I had to mention it !! What do you think?

The last bag I want to talk about is REITI. I love the fact that the sides are extensible, so if you need more space during the day, it's got you covered! I really like its flat bottom that allows it to stand up and also its little secret pocket under the flap. This is the kind of bag that fits with everything and is suitable for all occasions. Its size is perfect; not too big where we end up taking too much for nothing, or too small that we end up running out of space. I love it!

    ***

So that's it! My top 5 of the new spring-summer collection from Matt & Nat. It's really heartbreaking to have to select only 5, but I think that everyone can find the perfect match from this selection!

  • How to make the most out of your new Spring jacket How to make the most out of your new Spring jacket

    Posted on by Dom Girard

The arrival of Spring is often a euphoric moment; the mercury rises, the sun shines as never before and the sidewalks are finally clean! We want to make the most of every moment, but finding the right jacket to wear can be a nightmare! Because yes it's exciting when things warm up... but there is a long "in between" moment where it's too hot for your winter jacket, but too cold for your favorite jean vest. So I thought I'd make a spring version of my blog One dress, two ways and present you two jackets with two ways to wear them  :)

For the first coat I chose the Arabella from Soïa & Kyo. It's a nylon coat with a large hood and a (removable) belt. It's not lined, but with a good fleece vest underneath, it's possible to wear it when it's cooler (and by cooler, I still mean above zero!) Also, the belt helps to prevent the wind entering from underneath.

    Beanie : Caddie by Soïa&Kyo - Scarf : Miri by Soïa&Kyo - Bag : Palmview by Rudsak

The first outfit is for colder weather. I chose accessories of lighter color cause, yay, it's spring! we want light!! If it's not yet warm enough, you could even opt for a fur jacket to put on top, like the Rudsak Malverne. It's fashionable and oh so cosy!

    Scarf : Daisie by Soïa&Kyo - Bag : Minka by Matt&Nat

The second look with the Arabella is much lighter. The coat can easily be worn open, either without the belt or tied in the back. It really is an everyday look, super easy to wear for work, school or heading to the grocery store! I love the touch of color that the Matt & Nat handbag adds! I could've opted for the powder blue bag or the mint one... all fun choices that add a little punch to your look!

The second coat I chose is a Point Zero reversible jacket (yes, loving the reversible !!). That's what attracted me to it. To have a springy floral jacket, but to also have a more classic option in the same jacket ... I love it!

    Jacket : 8818505 by Point Zero - Scarf : luw0448 by LOLË Bag : Baxter by Matt&Nat

Again, the first outfit is more cosy and warm, with the massive Lolë infinity scarf; truly the most comfortable scarf! (I could also have completed the look with assorted mittens and beanie). I opted for a big tote bag, perfect for slipping your mittens into when the day gets warmer ;)

Same coat, but as if by magic, we change it up. We end up with a super summer jacket with pretty flowers (not too flashy). I have arranged it with one of my favorites this season, Matt & Nat's small Koala Mumbai backpack, and some light and sparkly jewels to put a spring into your step :)

I'm totally a fan of multifunctional /multiseason items. Not only will you get a lot of value out of an item, but you've got less chance of getting bored of it!

And over to you, what is your favorite spring basic?
