Statement Necklaces and Why I Love Them
Statement necklaces are not a new thing. They have been around for several years now, but the offer is getting bigger and bigger... To my great delight! It's a great way to show off your funky personality while staying classy. I'm not the kind of girl who wears very busy clothes... In fact, my wardrobe is almost entirely made up of black clothes. I love to layer, to mix textures, but sometimes it lacks a little character... a little punch. The statement necklace therefore becomes a choice accessory in these situations; it gives a wow factor to your look. And if you've been a little short of inspiration for your outfit, no problem! Everyone will be staring at the piece of art around your neck! Without further ado, I'm sharing with you my three favorite styles and some tips on how to combine them.
My first category of necklaces is what could be described as Aztec-inspired, with silver chain(s) and turquoise stones. If you regularly browse Pinterest or Polyvore, you've probably seen several outfits including them, especially in the last year where they've been extremely popular. One way I love to wear statement necklaces and especially these: on a completely buttoned shirt. That's the style I'm suggesting in the photos above. Let's face it... it's really beautiful!
No need for a special outing to wear a statement necklace. That's why I'm showing you an example of a very casual look, for a quick trip to the convenience store or a barbecue at your best friend's place. We're revisiting the jeans/t-shirt combo by adding a touch of eccentricity originality. If you're at all handy, you can even let your creativity run wild and make your own necklace, like I did in the photo on the right! Go to your favorite craft store and go wild! A little felt, thread and needle, a chain... and most importantly, a lot of imagination!
Finally, the last style I propose is for your more fancy outings. I really like the simplicity of the composition of the necklace on the right, contrasted by the originality of the arrangement of the two shades. You can also go all out with a necklace like the one on the left, with multiple levels and different types of beads. With such a massive style, if you have very long hair, I recommend an updo so it's not too busy. I would also opt for short earrings rather than dangling ones. With that, there's no doubt all eyes will be on you!
I believe there's no occasion where I don't want to wear a statement necklace! They are my go-to solution for completing my outfits. They add originality and dynamism to your look effortlessly. There are so many choices on the market that there's no doubt you'll find the style that best suits your taste and personality! The last piece of advice I can give you is... don't be afraid to dare!!
