  • Grandes tailles : comment bien choisir son manteau ? Grandes tailles : comment bien choisir son manteau ?

It's no secret: no matter your figure, choosing the right cut and especially the right size can be a real nightmare... especially for an important purchase like a winter coat. It can be even more so when you have a more generous figure, whether generally or more specifically (such as wider hips or a fuller bust, for example). Many brands offer their product range in larger sizes like XL or 2XL*, but it's still not always easy to find your way around.

*Please note that the 2XL offered by these brands are in the "regular" sizes category. This 2XL is therefore equivalent to a 1XL in plus size.

Here we present 3 body types and coat suggestions that suit them.

If you want even more advice on choosing your coat, I invite you to read our blog posts New Winter Coat - Knowing How to Recognize Your Needs as well as To Each Silhouette Its Coat.

    PLUS SIZES

First, before talking about specific body types, let's talk about plus sizes. The only two brands we currently have that offer sizes larger than XL are OOKPIK and POINT ZERO. All their styles are offered up to regular 2XL and some even in oversized 2XL. Feel free to contact us for more details on these sizes.

    H-SHAPED (or rectangular) SILHOUETTE

The last silhouette proposed is the H-shape, where the shoulders are as wide as the hips and the waist is not defined. The first coat presented is the KATIE by Lolë. Although most models from this brand could be suitable, we particularly like the KATIE for its length, its two-way zipper, and its removable synthetic fur collar. Its cut is straight and loosely fitted, making it perfect for this body type. The second model is very similar to the CHRISTY presented above and it is the SALMA by SOIA&KYO. Although similar, we can see that the zipper is off-center and very slightly oblique. It is also less fitted, which makes it very interesting for women who do not have a defined waist.
