RUDSAK, A MONTREAL LEADER
The first Rudsak collection was launched in 1994 by designer and artistic director Evik Asatoorian. By founding his own line of coats, shoes, and accessories, Mr. Asatoorian, a forward-thinking and visionary businessman, succeeded in realizing his dream of expressing his passion for fashion himself, rather than following trends set by others. It is thanks to his very urban, sleek, refined, and timeless style, combined with his expertise in using the finest Italian leathers, that he was able to conquer the North American and then global leather market. Mr. Christian Jammal, owner of Espace miX miX, recognized Rudsak's enormous potential from its inception. The Quebec brand Rudsak is still growing today, now boasting sixteen stores in Quebec and three in Ontario, and in 2010, it founded a new women's brand, Rud.
This incredible adventure began with an 18-year-old Mr. Asatoorian, a buyer at a shoe company, who noticed that the niche for high-end leather apparel was largely untapped in Quebec, unlike in Europe. A first collection of twelve leather jackets was then presented in 1994, bringing a European-inspired style to the North American market. The Rudsak concept, a signature look of subtle luxury accessible to the general public, became clearer with the introduction of shoes, accessories, and leather handbags into the collection, harmonizing with the coats. The advantage of leather is that it is timeless, improves with age, and is multifunctional, which defines the spirit of Rudsak. The first workshop, Rudsak Leather, was located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal, and the first boutique, opened in the late 1990s, was on Sainte-Catherine Street. The purpose of this boutique was to publicly establish the Rudsak concept, test products, and allow customers to differentiate them from other leather clothing brands. Self-taught, Mr. Asatoorian had not studied fashion initially, but he later completed training at the École nationale de mode du Collège LaSalle. Among other accolades, he won the Ariane award, presented by Cégep Marie-Victorin. You're probably wondering where the name Rudsak comes from? Mr. Asatoorian had a dog, Rud, who shared his love for leather, shoes, and handbags and was quick to chew on any piece of leather she could get her teeth on... The "sak" part refers to handbags and comes from the French word sac. A sure way to remember his faithful companion from days gone by!

Kim Lizotte is a passionate and critical comedian from Quebec. She entered the Quebec comedy scene in 2009, the year she graduated from the École Nationale de l'humour. Energetic and bursting with enthusiasm, she quickly conquered the showbiz world right after obtaining her "comedian's diploma." She made numerous appearances on television shows and performance stages. Samir Khullar, alias Sugar Sammy, is definitely becoming the Jamel Debbouze of Canada. At only 38 years old, this Quebec comedian and author of Indian descent has an impressive track record. He is a pure talent whose meteoric and impressive rise on the Canadian and international comedy scene has earned him admiration and enchantment. Let's look back at the acclaimed career of this great lover of self-deprecation.
Sugar Sammy was born on February 29, 1976, in Montreal. He grew up and attended school in Côte-des-Neiges, a Quebec neighborhood where many ethnicities live side by side daily. This cosmopolitan environment greatly influenced him, as he was raised according to Indian culture and is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. In college, he showed great interest in art, humor, and comedy in general. The film "Delirious," starring Eddie Murphy, definitively pushed him towards comedy. At 17, he began performing on small stages, notably at the Comedy Zone and Comedy Works. The comedian, who is then fluent in English, French, Hindi, and Punjabi, bases his art on self-deprecation through very delicate subjects such as racism, ethnicity, and the integration of newcomers.
In the 2000s, Sugar Sammy was still just one comedian among many, and thus largely unknown in Quebec City. He performed on several English-speaking stages in Canada and internationally, and even opened for Dave Chappelle. But it was in September 2009, with the signing of a representation agreement with The Gersh Agency, that his career took a decisive turn. He dazzled every stage he played on, achieving success after success, and was nicknamed "the new rock star of comedy" before being named "one of the 10 comedy talents to watch worldwide."
After this real success, Sugar Sammy continued his string of achievements. He was invited to perform all over the world, in England, the United States, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa. In total, he toured 30 countries and gave 1,000 performances, making headlines in all the magazines of his native Quebec. He became a true icon of the Canadian comedy scene, winning numerous awards. In 2009, he won the Best Comedian award from COCA (Canadian Organization for College Activities) and the Francophone Discovery award from the Just For Laughs Festival. The following year, he again won the Best Comedian award, as well as the Umayya Ambassador and Influence Award, the Quebec Citizenship Award, and the Best Comedian award from the Montreal Mirror.
In 2013 and 2014, he won the "Olivier de l'année" award three times. With his two flagship One Man Shows, "You're gonna rire" and "En français SVP," he captivated both English-speaking and French-speaking audiences, which solidified his notoriety throughout the country. In 2013, Comedy Central India invited him for a tour across India, and in 2014, Billboard Magazine named his tour one of the most lucrative. Today, Sugar Sammy is the prodigal child of Quebec comedy, and the least we can say is that his success story is only just beginning.

En miX avec - Elizabetta Fantone
C’est au Canada, dans la charmante ville de Montréal, que la talentueuse Elisabetta Fantone vit le jour. Il ne fallut pas longtemps à la jeune fille pour rejoindre l’Italie, son pays d’origine, où elle passa une partie de son enfance. C’est dans cet univers riche en histoire qu’elle découvre son engouement pour l’art et la scène, et bien sûr pour les pâtes italiennes. La jeune fille, âgée de 5 ans à l'époque, prenait beaucoup de plaisir à se déguiser et à imiter différents personnages de séries. Cependant, ce n’est que 10 ans plus tard qu’elle eut l’opportunité d’interpréter son premier rôle. « Aux âmes bien nées, la valeur n’attend point le nombre des années », dit-on. C’est ainsi qu’au terme de cette interprétation, Elisabetta se vit offrir le prix de la meilleure performance. Un prix qui lui donna encore plus envie de se lancer dans une carrière d’actrice.
Avec la grande soif d’apprendre qui l’animait, elle s’inscrivit en cours de danse, de chant et d’art dramatique afin de parfaire ses compétences. Parallèlement, elle étudie l’art créatif au collège et obtient un diplôme en design intérieur à la fin de son cursus. Les divers ateliers, de même que les cours d’allemand et d’espagnol qu’elle suivit par la suite lui seront d’une grande utilité pour sa future carrière. Avec tout ça, on se demande bien si elle trouvait le temps de s’amuser.
C’est en 2006, dans la célèbre émission française « Loft Story », que la charmante jeune femme fut découverte par le grand public. Bien évidemment, elle fut immédiatement adoptée par ce dernier. Cependant, son envie d’aller encore plus loin l’amena à déménager de Montréal pour poursuivre son aventure dans la superbe cité de Miami. C’est dans cette ville à l’allure à la fois rurale et urbaine que commence le véritable parcours d’Elisabetta. En effet, elle enchaina les rôles, s’intégrant très bien dans tous les personnages qu’elle devait jouer. « Blue Montain », « Nicky Deuce », « The Glades », « The Secret of the Mountain » ou encore « The Arrangement » sont quelques-uns des nombreux films et téléfilms dans lesquels elle joua un rôle. La jeune femme eut également la chance de décrocher le premier rôle dans « My Name is Sandy », un long métrage réalisé par le jeune Marco Lammatteo et présenté au célèbre Festival de Cannes. Dans « Ces gars-là », une comédie dramatique québécoise, Elisabetta Fantone fut également aperçue récemment.
En obtenant un rôle dans le film « Big Eyes » du célèbre cinéaste Tim Burton, l’actrice québécoise a réalisé l’un de ses plus grands rêves, c'est-à-dire être dirigée par son idole. La sortie de ce drame biographique est prévue pour 2014, et on attend de voir si Elisabetta sera une fois de plus à la hauteur de son talent. Hormis ses penchants pour le monde du cinéma et de la télévision, la jeune femme est également très passionnée par la peinture. Aux États-Unis, en Europe comme au Canada, pays dans lequel elle a vu le jour, Elisabetta expose ses différentes toiles qui sont d’ailleurs très appréciées par de nombreuses célébrités. En effet, elle a déjà eu à peindre pour Céline Dion, les sœurs Kardashian, Larry Walker, Muhammad Ali, pour ne citer que ceux-là. Plus d’une centaine de toiles ont déjà été répertoriées à son actif jusque-là.
Si certains pensent en avoir fini avec cette peintre et actrice de renom, détrompez-vous. En effet, le mannequinat est un autre domaine où brille Elisabetta Fantone. Si vous êtes abonné ou que vous lisez les magazines tels que Sharp & UMM ou Men’s Fitness, vous avez surement dû la voir récemment. Les nombreuses campagnes publicitaires auxquelles elle participe pour P & G, Heineken, Sony, etc. démontrent aussi toute la polyvalence de l’actrice. Jusqu’ici, tout réussit très bien à la Québécoise italienne, et avec les nombreux projets qui sont en train d’être développés, il est évident qu’Elisabetta est loin d’avoir fini de faire parler d’elle.
